{"id":1760,"date":"2025-11-19T17:12:44","date_gmt":"2025-11-19T22:12:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gettysburghope.com\/ccd4\/?p=1760"},"modified":"2025-11-19T17:30:00","modified_gmt":"2025-11-19T22:30:00","slug":"apostles-creed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gettysburghope.com\/ccd4\/2025\/11\/19\/apostles-creed\/","title":{"rendered":"Apostles Creed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A disciple is a student or follower, while an apostle means &#8220;one who is sent out&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The earliest record of the Apostles creed was around AD 215. This was a baptismal confession for new believers in the Church of Rome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The early church made this creed so we would all have the same foundation of our faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Painting Apostles\u2019 Creed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I believe in <strong>God the Father<\/strong> almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>And in <strong>Jesus Christ<\/strong>, His only Son, our Lord,<ul><li>Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>born of the Virgin Mary,<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>suffered under Pontius Pilate,<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>was crucified, died, and was buried.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>He descended into hell;<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>The third day, He rose again from the dead;<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>He ascended into heaven,<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>and sits at the right hand of God the Father almighty,<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I believe in the<strong> Holy Spirit<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the holy Catholic Church,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0   <em>Church!<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the communion of saints, \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0  \u00a0<em> Saints!<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the forgiveness of sins, \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<em>
